Multiple Lille fans injured after Amiens stadium stand collapses

Multiple Lille football fans have been injured after part of a stadium collapsed as the team celebrated a goal against Amiens in northern France.

There were around 20 fans injured, including up to six seriously, when a barrier gave way at the 12,000-capacity Amiens Unicorn stadium.

Horrifying photos and video footage show dozens of fans tumbling down the stand after it gave way.

The fans were celebrating a goal by Lille's Fode Ballo-Toure when the barrier collapsed, sending them plunging two metres to pitch level.

The match delegate, Noel Mannino, followed up by saying: "In light of the events, and given the fact that about 20 were injured, three of them seriously, it has been decided that the game would not resume."

A statement from Amiens later added: "The club and all of its leaders wants to express solidarity with the injured Lille fans and their families, with their health paramount."

Amiens's Twitter account posted a picture of a love-heart with a message in French which is roughly translated as 'Wholeheartedly with the wounded. We hope that's not too bad' following the incident.
